Paradise Clix Interview - Tylor Spees (2018 Wizkids Worlds winner)

 

*When, where and with who you started to play Heroclix? 

 I started playing in 2003.i went to my local library and took out a comic and it had an ad for Heroclix and I got them for Christmas. I mainly played with my siblings back then.

*How you would describe Heroclix?

I normally just say it's like super hero chess, lol.

*What is your game style?

Definitely aggressive. I don't like when my games go to time.

*What were your main achievements?

world's obviously lol. I got 9th in the roc cup, 11th at nationals, I had the most points after swiss in nationals, roc cup, and worlds this year, I won the Kentucky state championship, a mega qualifier, super qualifier, and a wko all this year. 

*Do you think Heroclix its “pay to win”? Do you think its an expensive hobbie?

It is pay to win but I don't consider that a bad thing. If things are expensive then they means there is a strong secondary market which means the game is doing well.  Supply and demand. It's definitely expensive lol.  But it's better than magic because at least you get cool looking miniatures.

*Before the world championship who did you think would be the champion?

Dan Powell, Easton Brock, or PJ Bolin. It was a toss up. 

*Your team (Worlds) and strategy?

The general strategy is to go across the map and tie them up with my front line, applying enough pressure that they are forced to attack and get retaliated on while still making it difficult for them to score points.

*There’s any remarkable match (Worlds) you remember?

The final game of swiss vs Jay major. He was playing Shredders. When last action was called we both only had Mini Shredder left and they had both been reset already.  I won by 10 points!

*What do you think of the current meta?

I really enjoy it.  There is a lot of diversity which lets people get creative. I think there are still top teams out there that haven't even been discovered yet.

*Which Character will you choose to be made by Wizkids?

Not sure yet.  Just a character I like that hasn't been given a fair shake yet. Spidey, Juggernaut, and Doom come to mind but there could be others.

*Any advice for the new players?

Practice, practice, practice! I never really play tested before this year and it has made me a much better player.

*Would you like to let a message to the readers?

Just never be afraid to try something new!

10º Torneio Paradise Clix - 25/11 + Campeões 2018

 

 No dia 25/11 foi realizado o 10º Torneio Paradise Clix  e último referente à Liga na temporada 2018 fechando o ano. O formato foi Modern Age 400 pontos livre, ou seja, sem nenhuma restrição específica abrindo espaço para todas as apelações que o atual e variado meta Modern Age pode oferecer. 

 Indubitavelmente o evento foi dominado pelo Uni-Mind presente nos times que ocuparam as três primeiras posições da eventualidade formando um verdadeiro Cérbero.

Os demais times apresentaram significativa variedade e mesmo os três times de Uni-Mind apresentavam variações não sendo literalmente iguais. Não só a competição foi intensa, mas o fair play como nas partidas do Gustavo e Chefe com o Fillip que está começando a abraçar com mais clareza o competitivo.

O jogador Marcos estava em uma competição de buraco e não pode comparecer, mas foi representado por uma máscara, pois existia a possibilidade, concretizada, dele terminar a liga entre os três primeiros colocados e receber o troféu correspondente. Assim tivemos no torneio "bystander Marcos".

A Liga consagrou Otacilio/Otacar como o campeão de 2018 depois de ser Pentavice (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 e 2017), porém não foi o único campeão do ano, pois tivemos diversos eventos com conquista de Valter/Isac, José e Marcos. O ano foi marcado pelo começo arrasador no jogo do Felipe que sagrou-se revelação do ano.

He’s the best at what he does and what he does is shred opposing figures. 50 points for 9 powers and improved movement on top click.  A close combat monster who is decently hard to kill.

25 points for traited stealth and shape change, conditional sidestep and 2 of the 3 best support powers in the game. Just a fantastic support piece that can fit on many teams.

Mind Control is relevant again because of the cosmic starfish.  Board control from starrophytes and he really can’t be out ranged.  He’s very flexible.  Best sculpt of the year as well.  He’s also the piece that really makes troublealert figure relevant.
072 Firestorm
 Comes in for free with dual target Energy Explosion , Sidestep and Probability Control and pushes onto plus 2 perplex. 
025 Groot
As a 20 point retaliation piece provides so much value.  He brings two of the best pogs in the game for free with the potential for more. Great stats and the all important Leadership.

Power cosmic team ability. Plus 2 perplex, the ability to heal your team and himself ,  great offense, a taxi, good keywords.

Incredible ID Card call in.   Flight , free tk, psyblast , outwit.  She’s just an amazing , versatile package.
B006 Mudman
Best pog in the game.   An amazing tie up piece , very hard to kill.  He trait just make him so hard to deal with.  Fits on any team
015 Molly Hayes
Its been a good year for low cost pieces.   25 points for a 5 click deep dial of toughness  and traited stealth and IM: Destroys Blocking. 18 defense and 4 damage top dial.  Just an amazing package. 
052 Batgirl, Shadow of the Bat
I feel like she’s an amazing title character. Top dial sidestep and probability control are great with her amazing title abilities.   Being able to perplex for plotpoints is very useful and her outwit and free charge which can be used after being carried make her deadly. 
052 Cyclops
Another X-Men anchor piece. He provides a great ranged game to compliment Wolverines close combat assault.  8 range and precision strike and psychic blast paired with improved targeting blocking just make him a deadly sniper.

A piece with traited mind control but only 4 range 1 target and 9 attack.   Just a waste of points in an otherwise great set.  
049 Professor X, Dreamer
 I can’t really justify playing him over any other title character.  His negative ability when he’s KOd is devastating for your team and he’s easy to kill.
003 Black Widow
 Activation click.   Bad stats.  Powers that don’t compliment each other.  Just no reason to play her.
014 Red Hulk
200 points for no move and attack powers, 3 damage and a dual full of 10 attack value.  No thanks.
034 Krang
 He would be great if his special powers were top dial.  Instead your paying 130 points for a character with phasing as its starting movement.  
021 Harvey Dent
Why am I paying 55 points for this?
046 Chase Stein
 A dedicated taxi for the runaways that can carry 6 characters but only has 7 movement.  😞
They are not going to runaway very fast.

Why is this character 40 points and Molly Hayes is 25?  Just over costed for what she does.
